Ahoy, Mateys! I am so excited to share with you my new Pirate Cootie Catcher Origami Project. We don't want this fierce pirate captain to be lonely, so I also included a Parrot to be the pirate's feathered companion! Follow the simple printing & folding instructions to create these playful pirate cootie catchers. So, gather your paper and prepare to fold your way into a world of interactive fun, creativity, and laughter! Ahoy, me hearties! Let's embark on this exciting Pirate Cootie Catcher and Parrot Origami Project together!
To begin your craft you need to download the Pirate Cootie Catcher Templates. This download is available to all members for FREE! You heard me correctly, memberships are free to join for everyone who is 18 years an older! Click on the link to signup and to find the Pirate Cootie Catcher Templates.
After you have downloaded the template, print it on 8.5x11 white paper and cut out all of the pieces. Once you have cutout each of the pieces it is time to fold. Folding a cootie catcher is easy and fun! Follow these simple steps to create your own:
Start with the square piece of paper. Fold the square in half horizontally, creasing the paper firmly. Unfold the paper and then fold it again in the opposite direction, creating another crease. Unfold the paper, so you have a square with two creases which should cross each other in the middle of the square.
Now, fold each corner of the square towards the center, so the points meet in the middle. This will create a smaller square with the center cross still visible.
Flip the square over and fold each corner towards the center once more. You should now have a smaller square.
Fold the smaller square in half.
Then gently slide your fingers into the flaps of the folded square and carefully open them up. This will create the opening of your cootie catcher.
Glue the top sides together and then the bottom sides together. You will no longer be able to open the cootie catcher if you do this but it will help the puppet stay together for kids to play with.
Glue the hat on top of the forehead.
Glue the arms to the two sides of the pirate.
Glue the legs to the bottom of the pirate.
Congratulations, you've successfully completed the Pirate Cootie Catcher! But we don't want him to sail alone on this crafty adventure. Now, let's double the fun by repeating the same steps with the Pirate Parrot template. With colorful feathers and a mischievous grin, the Pirate Parrot will make the perfect companion for your cootie catcher. Follow the folding instructions once more, and before you know it, your feathered friend will be ready to join the pirate crew! Ahoy, mateys, time to craft a pirate duo that will surely entertain and bring a smile to your face!
